Bezzera BZ10 Espresso Machine
Bezzera BZ10 Overview
The Bezzera BZ10 is a thoughtfully designed heat exchanger that makes a big splash in the espresso market, in spite of its small footprint. It has all the features you’d expect of a prosumer, but often with a design twist, made possible by Bezzera’s commitment to keeping production in house.
Features and Performance
The machine is named for its specially designed electronic grouphead, the machine’s crowning feature. Rather than go with the standard E61 group which syphons water from the boiler to maintain its heat, the BZ10 group is heated electronically and monitored by its own thermostat for serious temperature stability.
Plus, the BZ10 grouphead is up to temp in ten minutes, where an E61 can take twenty minutes or more. Anything that delivers caffeine faster is excellent in our book. Steaming can be done at the same time as brewing, due to the heat exchange design, and both steam and brew pressures can be monitored on the BZ10’s dual needle gauge.
Using the BZ10 is simple, with its intuitive push button and toggle operation; each function designated by a stylized icon. The integrated cup warmer keeps cups at the ready, and we’ve found that the electronically heated brew group really gets the job done. The steam wand toggles on for powerful steaming, and we were impressed by just how much steaming you can get done before the BZ10 needs a breather; though, if you’re expecting to entertain often, you might want to consider a dual boiler machine. You don’t need to worry too much about overworking it either, Bezerra integrated several layers of safety sensors to keep the BZ10 performing reliably for years.

This is a great machine. It makes great coffee. I’ve had it about one month and I’ve made about 90 drinks with it and it’s performed great. Fast heat-up, love the pressure gauge, great steam power, great controls, love the rosewood handles, I’m really happy I bought it and I highly recommend it.
However, I have two minor criticisms aboutRead more about review stating almost perfect the machine itself – the solenoid drain assembly is really awkward. They should fix this. It wouldn’t be hard. It is just a loose bit of pipe with an etched rim a little above halfway up that is supposed to be pinched in between the drip tray top and flange on the machine front panel to keep the outlet of the pipe just above the bottom of the drip tray so that the water has somewhere to go without splashing. It is really awkward to line up correctly every time after emptying and cleaning the drip tray and will often slip down below the drip tray top when removing the drip tray and then you have to take the drip tray top off and fish it out. This is my biggest gripe and can be really annoying, but it’s also not a very big deal. Secondly, the portafilter has, what seems to me, too much travel, i.e. when inserting the portafilter with 18-20 grams of coffee, to get the portafilter snug you need to turn the handle well past perpendicular to the machine, I’d say something like 30 degrees past perpendicular. This means that the spouts are also off-line. Not a huge deal, plenty of room on the drip tray to accommodate if pouring into two cups, but just seems a little sloppy to me. It takes 25 or 26 grams to get the portafilter snug with the handle perpendicular to the machine, but then the coffee is terrible.
The solenoid drain valve was a little frustrating because I didn’t see this mentioned in any reviews or literature about the machine. One additional gripe about the machine I did see mentioned, so not a legitimate “complaint” from me, more like a suggestion, I guess – the steam wand is uninsulated. It has a rubber grip to prevent burns. The other machines at this price point have an insulated steam wand, at least the Appartamento does, and I would like the Bezzera machine just a little more if it had an insulated steam wand. I’ve burned myself once already. My fault, I know.
One comment to HARFAN COFFEE – better, clearer notice that a signature is required at delivery for this machine would be appreciated. That caught me off guard the day of delivery.
Again, I love this machine. I highly recommend it. It makes awesome espresso and really great steam. Ergonomics are awesome, it looks great, it is pretty small, and the fluffy biscione logo reminds me of the horrors of medieval war, and the beauty of cosmopolitan Milan, every morning!

Very impressed with this machine so far!!! So glad we spent the extra money for the Rosewood handles! They are beautiful. Just getting the hang of milk frothing and brewing, but your tutorial videos are very informative; one of the reasons we purchased from you instead of Amazon. Your customer service has been wonderful too.
