Owning the Ceado E37J Espresso Grinder
The smallest offering in Ceado’s E37 series, the E37J rounds out the line with its compact stature, without losing the great features expected of the E37 grinders. This doserless grinder is stepless, for infinite grind adjustment when you push or pull the lever on the collar. Inside, a super quiet 300 watt motor is mechanically suspended on rubber mounts. With its powerful motor and 64mm burrs, grinds are dispensed at a rate of 1.7 grams per second. This is a great rule of thumb to keep in mind when programming single and double shot doses, which you can later press to dispense a perfectly timed shot on-demand. Grounds are kept clump free by a little flap integrated into the coffee chute, which is very effective at breaking them up so that grounds dispense evenly into the middle of your portafilter each time you grind. Manual grinding is easily done by pressing the portafilter into the grind button and holding it until the desired amount of grounds is reached. For hands free grinding, the E37J will hold on to your portafilter while grinding so you don’t have to. The J lives up to the hype of the rest of the line, and it’s perfect for a home setting.

This design keeps the burrs at a constant distance apart from one another, whether they’re grinding for one shot or one hundred. So, if your E37J is dialed in already, you can literally lift the burrs apart for cleaning, screw them back together, and grind a great shot right away without any adjustment necessary. Baratza stopped working. Needed a grinder. Ceado seemed to be the best option made them out to be one of the best.
Pros: High Quality, robust, heavy duty. Built like a tank. Portafilter holder is excellent.
Cons: Grind is not always consistent with same coffee, subsequent grinds. Higher retention than the BaratzaRead more about review stating CeadoE37J and the Baratza cost less. Occasional clumps in grind. Hard to dial in and wish it had the better grind adjustment of its costlier siblings.
Overall I really like the machine because it built well.

Very precise, and extremely quiet machine. I use an Acaia Lunar to check the dose, and once it’s set, the Ceado sends out the exact amount each time. I would recommend a dosing cup (Acaia has a 58mm one) as sometimes the grinds are a bit on the fluffy side and will overflow the portafilter.

The factory set grind range was too coarse when the Ceado E37J arrived. This grinder works great, but detailed instructions, written or on youtube, on how to dial it in to my needs and wants have escaped me.
I know from the youtubes I have seen, that there are detailed options on how to set it up. but clear instructions on all the options I have not found online and are not included with the grinder.

Setup was easy . I only had to make minor adjustments to the factory settings. Very solid machine. So easy to operate and changing the grind is really simple. But ultimately we buy a grinder for the all important grind quality: fluffy beautiful coffee- mounds nicely into the portafilter. I replaced an old Rancillio Rocky with the Ceado E37J.
