ECM Classika PID Espresso Machine with Flow Control
ECM Classika PID with Flow Control Overview
The ECM Classika PID had us curious out of the box. After a few quick tests, it had our attention. This high-performance semi-automatic comes equipped with tools we would normally expect of much larger prosumer machines that run for $2000 or more.
Features and Performance
With a custom machined E61 group head, a PID controller, and flow control, you can expect great temperature stability and the option to adjust brew temperature to bring out more subtle flavors in high-altitude coffee, as well as adjust steam temperature to get the steaming power you like. With flow control, you can tailor your espresso to your liking by controlling the flow rate of water through your coffee.
From our tests, flow control really changes the game for your espresso; you’re in complete control of the final product, so this is a plus for coffee connoisseurs looking to experiment with different flow profiles and get different results in the cup. To complete your set of tools is the easily accessed OPV adjustment screw, which can be found beneath the cup tray.
The Classika PID brews with a single 0.75 liter stainless steel boiler, which is an important consideration when it comes to capacity versus needs. the Classika PID is a single-boiler machine, you can pull shot after shot but you can not brew and steam at the same time like you can with a heat exchanger machine.
You’ll need to cool and fill the boiler after steaming but it is an easy process and doesn’t take long. This makes the Classika PID good for espresso lovers who want perfectly crafted shots at greatly reduced cost and still have room on your counter for a nice grinder.

The ECM Classika has been a joy to use after graduating from a Saeco Aroma espresso appliance. After dialing in the Carraro Globo Elite beans and producing shots of espresso, americanos, and lattes I can say that I am firmly a fan of the machine. I have not really played with the flow control yet as I’m still familiarizing myself with processes anRead more about review stating I love this machine.d trying things to perfect the produced shots, but I look forward to trying some things in the future.
The packing and delivery of the machine was handled well with double boxed package with absorbing foam corners in between the inner and outer box.

I purchased this unit after weeks of research. I primarily drink americanos followed by espresso and the occasional seasonal latte. The ECM Classika PID brings the quality engineering of Germany merged with the classic styling, fit and finish of Italy. It is a work of art that is built solid. Two weeks in and I am very satisfied. It is a workhorseRead more about review stating I purchased this unit after and definitely built to last. The flow control added by Harfan coffee allows me to dial in so many flavor profiles from the various roast types. Having transitioned from a Breville Barista Express, my barista inadequacies where quite evident to start but with YouTube videos, continued reading I have upped my game tremendously and have enforced coffee at a new level altogether.

Very happy with my purchase. I think im getting better to get consistent espresso.
Haven’t figured out how to make good foam with milk yet. And i always introduce water into the milk , even i run the steam wand to let the water out for a long time.
