Eureka Mignon Specialita Espresso Grinder in Grey
Eureka Mignon Specialita Overview
The Eureka Mignon Specialità is an all purpose grinder with 55 mm flat hardened steel burrs that give it the highest output in Eureka’s Mignon range. The touch screen display is a stand out feature for a grinder so small, making adjustment as easy as it should be. With its larger burrs, the Mignon Specialità can produce up to 1.8g of coffee per second for espresso, meaning it can produce a barista quality 18g double shot in as little as 10 seconds.
Features and Performance
First of all—the touch screen. We’re thrilled with how intuitive it is. It’s vibrant, with a large font size and clean controls. Grind time is adjustable in tenths of a second using the “+” and “-” buttons, and you can freely switch between single and double shots. Also, you can switch to a manual mode for continuous grinding, or lock in your timed settings to keep other people from fiddling.
For performance, it’s equipped with 55 mm flat hardened steel burrs and a strong 1350 RPM motor with an output of 1.4 – 1.8g/s for espresso and 1.9 – 2.5g/s for brew. Eureka’s ACE system helps prevent clumping by eliminating static in ground coffee, which in turn ensures dose consistency.
It’s quiet, measuring in at about 73 dBA, so you won’t ever need to stop a conversation to make your drinks. It brings Eureka’s patented micrometric adjustment, so you expect smooth, stepless adjustments when dialing in the grind. Plus, the portafilter holder fork is adjustable to work with any portafilter on the market.
Why You Should Get It
The Mignon Specialta is a superb espresso grinder, with it’s quiet grinding and touchscreen controls. The micrometric grind adjustment knob is one of the easiest ways to make very fine changes to grind size that we’ve experienced, as well. Plus, with a height of under 14 inches, this coffee and espresso grinder will fit just about anywhere. If you’re looking for a compact, espresso-focused grinder, this is the one for you.

After seventeen years spent with our Rocky grinder (with a burr replacement halfway), grinding two to three espresso’s worth of beans every day, we were more than ready for a new espresso grinder. I’d long ago gotten frustrated with the lack of fine-tuning available on the Rocky, so I turned my sights on getting a grinder that had stepless-grindinRead more about review stating Quiet and great for single-dosing! Since we prefer to use our grinder in a single-dose kind of way (never keeping beans in the hopper and carefully measuring out enough beans for just one double-basket full) I wanted to find something that excelled in the zero-ground-retention department. When I stumbled across a random review on YouTube showing the Specialita with after-market 3-D-printed bellows, I was intrigued. I checked Etsy and, sure enough, found several sellers offering their Mignon compatible bellows. Promising! Since HarfanCoffee tests (and tests by others) showed that the Specialita didn’t have a ton of ground retention, I was sold. (The Ceado E5SD Single-Dose Coffee Grinder was drool-worthy and a definite contender, but I couldn’t justify spending the $1350.) I couldn’t be happier with the Mignon Specialita. It is super quiet, good-looking, well-built, and churns out exceptionally fluffy espresso grounds. It beats the pants off of our old Rocky and we are THRILLED with it. I don’t doubt that it will last just as long as, if not longer than, our previous Rocky. (Incidentally, the bellows I went with is by Booshie Creations. I love it.) Using the Acaia Lunar espresso scale and Espro calibrated tamper to carefully dose and tamp my portafilter basket, I’m getting more consistent shots than ever! We love HarfanCoffee and have purchased nearly all of our espresso machinery and paraphernalia from them, including our previous well-used Rocky.

Great machine. Consistently grinds what I set, just don’t change the setting to a finer grind if the machine is not running. I love it! Night and day difference to my old Rancilio Rocky.

This grinder is a big leap in quality compared to my trusty Rancilio Rocky. Rocky is still going after 10 yrs so I hope the Mignon will last just as long. It’s super quiet and grinds pretty fast. The grounds come out great but takes some getting used to so I don’t make a mess with coffee spilling over the sides of the portafilter. 1 con is the porRead more about review stating Quiet grinder!tafilter rest. It’s edges are sharp and not very refined. Almost like the rest was an afterthought. It works but I was concerned that it would scratch my new portafilter from my new ECM Technika.

I had a terrible experience with the Baratza Sette 270wi and got this grinder as a replacement. The Specialita does everything right: it’s small and beautiful, well made, quiet, relatively clean, and the grinds look perfect, consistent, and fluffy to me. I was able to dial in a very tasty shot by my third espresso.

I’m now onto my second espresso roast, and enjoying this Eureka Mignon Specialita. It is MUCH quieter than the Rancilio Rocky grinder I used for over 17 years. I also value the precise control of the grind setting, as well as controlling the grinding time to 1/10th of a second. I can now see a more consistent BAR pressure and extraction timing witRead more about review stating I’m now onto my secondh each pulled shot, with flavor to match. This humble Mignon is taking our morning brews to the next level ;o)

My 10 YO picked the orange color and I was a little nervous having it my kitchen. It does catch your eye, but it looks very stylish and professional. I would not trade it for another color. The performance of these grinders is well documented on the web and my experiences met with my expectations. I use it exclusively for single dosing and switch Read more about review stating Great grinder for single dosingbeans multiple times a day. The grind changes are very repeatable and I have very little, if any, retention or grind carry over from one shot to the next. The small footprint is a huge plus as well.
