Eureka Oro Mignon Single Dose Grinder Chrome

Eureka Oro Mignon Single Dose Grinder Overview

The Eureka Oro Mignon Single Dose Grinder is an Italian made single dosing coffee grinder that has been optimized for minimal retention, all-purpose grinding. Equipped with a set of 65 mm, Diamond Inside® treated burrs, it has an incredible output of up to 2.8 g/sec when grinding for espresso and 3.3 g/sec for brewed coffee. For anyone looking for a quality single-dosing grinder with dual emphasis on looks and performance, this grinder fits the bill nicely.

Features and Performance

In order to optimize the Mignon for single dosing, Eureka implemented a number of changes to improve grinding speed, lower retention, and optimize workflow. Many of these changes occurred on the inside of the grinder, including an upgraded 1650 rpm direct drive motor. The most obvious update is the new inclined design that has become a staple for single dosing grinders.

To grind, the Mignon Single Dose is equipped with a set of 65 mm, Diamond Inside® treated burrs, which boast a grinding lifespan of over 3,000 lbs of coffee. Somewhat massive for a grinder this compact, the 65 mm diameter helps ensure consistent particle distribution and contribute to a high speed output that range from 2.3g/sec to 3.3g/sec across the entire grinding spectrum.

Grind adjustment is stepless and micrometric, allowing incredibly precise changes to grind size that are made even easier with the oversized comfort knob. The 45 g bean hopper has also been redesigned for single dosing, with a funnel-like shape that feeds beans downward into the burrs and a vented tab that is compatible with the optional Blow Up System cleaning accessory. The hopper lid is also a quality piece, made of walnut with the words “Single Dose” burned into it.

Operating the grinder is as simple as pressing the On/Off switch located on the right side of the housing, and a 45 g stainless steel dosing cup is included to assist with grinding workflow. The cup is perfect for transferring beans into the hopper and then grinding into. It has a 58 mm diameter that fits most portafilters and is also great for transferring grounds to manual brewing devices like pour over drippers or French presses. The walnut base of the grinding platform houses a magnet that securely holds the wooden base in place while grinding.

From an aesthetics standpoint, the Mignon Single Dose’s walnut components, full aluminum housing, and silent grinding allow it to easily fit into any kitchen or coffee bar. Even optimized for single dosing, the grinder is still a mere 5″ wide and under 13″ tall.

Why You Should Get It

The Mignon Single Dose marries performance, convenience, and aesthetics like few products can. It is the perfect grinder for anybody looking to explore multiple brew methods with minimal waste. Outside of its performance, its authentic Italian origin and tasteful wood accenting make this grinder a welcome addition to any kitchen.

This is an espresso grinder, so the range is small, which makes possible the finest adjustments, to dial in the best grind. The adjustment handle is stiff though, so you may need help tapping it to the right spot. No waste. Smaller portafilters don’t fit the holder.

  2. Emil Binder

Very happy with this grinder. I think it will probably be the last one I buy. Nice consistent, fluffy grinds right into the portafilter.

I had previously written a three star review based mainly on the fact that I was having issues with static. Switching the coffee from Lavazza to Illy cured the problem. And, lo and behold, going back to the Lavazza is also static free. I don’t know if it’s weather related or what but I would like to amend my review to 5 stars. This is a great grinRead more about review stating Static issue resolvedder for single dose coffee. You have ultimate grind control allowing you to easily test various coffee amounts and grind levels. This is an excellent machine.

We love this grinder in our house hold! We mainly purchased it because my wife likes to switch to decaf after her first cup for the day, so a hopper filled grinder was not appealing to us. This grinder has nearly zero retention after using the bellow on the backend of the grind, which is not easy to accomplish with the majority of grinders on the Read more about review stating Awesome Single Dose Grindermarket. We bought it in the chrome finish and it looks great next to our ECM Synchronika with black anthracite side covers and olive wood handles.

I roast my own coffee. Replaced my Baratza Sette 270 with the Mignon Single dose grinder. Reason? My wife complained too much about how noisy the Sette is. (It is loud by the way). The Eureka Oro is a great machine. It is quiet. It is fast. It does a great grind. It doesn’t have the ease of adjustment as the Sette, but it still is adequate. Also, Read more about review stating Single dosing hype?I do 21 grams. I always lose at least .2 grams no matter how much banging or use of the bellows. One coffee bean is about .1-.2 grams. So where is this bean going? Probably the same place as where the missing socks in the dryer go. It’s a keeper. However, I am giving this a 4 star due to the grinder settings could be better and the zero-retention hype is not as good as advertised.

I moved from a Mazer Mini to this grinder and I’m so glad I did. This checks all the boxes: esthetically beautiful, it takes very little counter top real estate. Its retention is virtually zero, equal or less than 0.1g (so the included bellows is really useless). It’s quiet, much much quieter than the Mazer. The grind adjustment nob is easy to turRead more about review stating Wonderful single dose grindern and precise (again, unlike the Mazer). And it’s fast, grinding a 20g puck in less than 10sec. There is absolutely nothing more I would want in a grinder.

Recently I left a rather scathing review of the ECM grinder mentioned above, which frankly it deserved. I was resigned to the fact that I would be stuck with the ECM but unexpectedly, Tracy E from customer support reached out to me and offered me the opportunity to exchange it for another model. Now that’s good customer service! She suggested the Read more about review stating Way better than the ECM S-Automatik 64 that it replaced!Eureka Oro Mignon based upon the issues I had with the ECM, and it was a great suggestion at that.

I’ve had the EOM for a few weeks now and I’m thrilled with just about every feature. Retention is low, in the 0.1g range at the most depending on static, and whether or not I use the bellows. It’s far less wasteful since it grinds only what you put in the small hopper i.e. you get out what you put in. The bean release mechanism is simple yet elegant. It does a great job of grinding being very consistent and uniform. It looks amazing, it’s beautifully made, it’s reasonably quiet, it’s suitably heavy and solid, but there are three aspects that could be better, hence only four starts.

First off, the sticker on the grinder setting adjustment knob is cheap and was already coming off when it showed up. The on/off button is cheap and I don’t see it lasting for years. And finally, the very nice wooden top doesn’t fit the hopper well at all. Given the price for this grinder those three features shouldn’t be an issue with this model.

Overall though I’m very pleased with the EOM and would buy it again.
