Expobar Office Pulser Espresso Machine
Owning the Expobar Office Pulser
The simplest of the Expobar Office line, the Pulser carves out a space all its own with its unique aesthetics. As a medium capacity heat-exchange machine, it can brew and steam simultaneously, making it ideal for crafting cappuccinos and lattes at home or in a coffee kiosk. We’re particularly impressed with Expobar’s barista-focused construction, as seen in the fully articulating steam and hot water wands; temperature retaining chrome plated brass portafilter; and especially in their reimagined E61 group head. A traditional E61 syphons hot water through the brew circuit to ensure the brew water always retains its temperature, and Expobar’s adds to that by integrating a concave pre-infusion chamber to soak the grounds prior to brewing and aid in the extraction. Due to these features, we’ve noted impressive temperature stability while brewing with the Pulser.
Using the Pulser couldn’t be simpler. Cups are conveniently stored atop the machine on the passively heated cup warmer; the on/off switch is front and center, situated between the steam and hot water knobs; and an imbedded temperature-ready indicator light burns bright to cue you when it’s ready to brew. It’s powerful, yet compact enough to fit under a standard 16” cabinet, making the Pulser an excellent fit for baristas at home or work. Internally, the machine sports electronic boiler controls, safety switches and commercial quality components. Also part of Expobar’s Office Line are the Control, which offers programmable volumetric brewing at the press of a button, and the Office Lever, which offers larger capacities and all over stainless construction, as well as an option to plumb the machine into a water line with the Office Lever Plus model.

Purchased my Pulsar a bit over 3 years ago as a budget upgrade to HX. The machine has met every expectation. It is solidly built, reliable, and steams like a locomotive. IMO, the best HX bargain around.

I can pull an exceptional shot of espresso (23 seconds)and the steamer is capable of producing that extra thick HOT frothed milk that makes a latte “to die for!” I no longer buy a latte anywhere. No one can make them as good as I make my own Expobar.
What do you like best about this product?
Easy as can be once I got used to it.

Others complain about the steamer wand getting thick with scalded milk. I clean the machine once a week with Urnex Cafiza and then put the drip pan and grill in the dishwasher. The steamer wand is a snap to clean when it builds up: put a steamer pitcher with HOT water on the drip tray and place the wand in the water while at work. The build up wipes off easily with a cloth.

I wanted to use this machine a few months before I wrote anything about it. There are so many machines to choose from I’m glad I bought the Expobar Pulser, it is great and there is nothing I don’t like about it (except the instruction manual). I would buy it again.
