Profitec Pro 700 Dual Boiler Espresso Machine OPEN BOX
Profitec Pro 700 Overview
Profitec presents us with the Pro 700; their preeminent dual boiler machine which thrilled us from the moment we first unboxed it. What you’ll first notice is the quality of German design combined with Italian conventions in a stainless steel housing, polished to a mirror finish. The latest version features eye-catching cosmetic upgrades, such as streamlined, signature branding on the front panel, drip tray, and the redesigned jet black pressure gauges.
Features and Performance
Inside the machine, you’ll find the internal components to be incredibly well-organized, which is an often underappreciated touch that you don’t see in many other machines. Copper coils and water lines trace from one brass fitting to the next.
Even the more delicate electronics are shielded from any humidity, neatly tucked away to one side of the machine. All of this speaks to Profitec’s standards for quality engineering. As they like to say, “We endeavor to bridge the gap between tried and true professional technology and state-of-the-art engineering.”

We purchased the Pro 700 approx 3 1/2 years ago and I’m just now compelled to write a review. Our machine has been ON, on a timer every single day from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm for the last 3 1/2 years, and has created perfect espresso on a daily basis since day 1. The machine has never failed us despite its constant every day use. The machine is SOLID,Read more about review stating Perfect home espresso great looking, easy to use and makes amazing coffee. Couldn’t recommend more!

This machine is magic! I was upgrading from a La Pavoini lever machine and landed on the Profitec after watching the videos and tutorials on HARFAN COFFEE website. There is truly no comparison to anything else I’ve used. After a bit of a learning curve with the flow control and timing I am pulling the best tasting shots I’ve ever created (and certainly beRead more about review stating Profitec Pro 700tter than what you can get commercially)! I also bought the Bestmax filter system which I’d highly recommend. I didn’t realize how much water I’d go through learning, testing, backflushing, etc. It’s well worth the money… not to mention the insurance form scale build up over time. Big shout out to the HFC team for their work on the tutorials – those really made all the difference. I’ll admit, I was looking at a different machine initially but after seeing the build quality comparison, the Profitech was a no-brainer.

I’m coming from a Rancilio Silvia that was a reliable daily driver for nearly a decade. Compared to the Silvia the Profitec 700 is better in every way (at 4 times the cost, it should be) and it’s hard to imagine a home user outgrowing this machine. It’s built like a tank and has enough features that I anticipate using this machine for the next decRead more about review stating Fantastic Machine, but perhaps too much (?)ade or more (and then passing it along to my kids). I added the flow control function, figuring that even if I didn’t use it, having a pressure gauge right at eye level would come in handy.
That said, there are a few things to consider if you are contemplating a similar upgrade:
1. This thing is huge. Even if it will technically fit under your cabinet, you will need to factor in space to remove the top cover and refill the reservoir (unless you plumb in) as well as space on the left side for steaming. I ended up putting furniture pads underneath the feet, which allows me to move it out from under the cabinet, but at 75 lbs moving this thing around isn’t easy.
2. The various descriptions of the unit’s rotary pump describe it as near silent or as “quiet as it gets” so I was expecting it to be nearly inaudible, but I honestly haven’t noticed much of a different in volume between it and the Silvia So perhaps the Profitecs with the vibratory pump are even louder?
3. This machine offers numerous ways to tweak the settings (temp, pressure) and the flow control valve gives the user even more control to really dial in their shots or make adjustments to adapt to different roasts etcs. It’s been a lot of fun going down a rabbit hole in pursuit of cafe-like quality. At the same time, there are those mornings that I don’t want to deal with all of those variables and miss the simplicity of the Silvia. Also, this level of customization also means additional points of failure and I have already had to replace the flow control device which seized up after a month (HARFAN COFFEE support was fantastic and sent me a new part that arrived the next day).
4. Finally, the machine doesn’t come with a bottomless portafilter. Which is kind of a pain since my guess is that most consumers would prefer that to the single portafilter that does come with the machine. Fortunately I was able to use my Latte Rewards on an ECM portafilter. But still, at $3k a bottomless portafilter should come in the box.
In the end, I’m happy with the machine and think that it is worth the money and time. But I’m not sure I would recommend it to someone looking for their first machine, as it requires a level of commitment and attention that makes it as much as a hobby as a high end kitchen appliance.

What a great machine. Only had it a few days but I’m already tasting my coffee’s subtleties much more than before. Can’t wait to try more stuff out with this beast of a machine.
