Special Edition Rancilio Silvia M in Black
Owning the Rancilio Silvia M
The much beloved Rancilio Silvia returns with a limited edition run to celebrate 20 years of excellent espresso. The Silvia Black brings a commemorative style to the already renowned machine, famous for its status as the premier entry level espresso machine for enthusiasts at home. Just as before, you can expect superior performance, heat retention, and lasting quality.
To that end, the Silvia Black features a strong marine brass group head and boiler. The 12-ounce boiler allows for steam capacity that is unparalleled by other machines at this size and price, matching well with the Silvia’s commercial style steam wand. For more commercial features, a 3-way solenoid valve relieves the water pressure off the coffee when the brew switch is turned off, drying out the coffee puck and making it easy to discard the coffee from the portafilter with one knock. An iron frame in combination with the black stainless steel housing provides durability as well as sleek, Italian style.
For best results while brewing, we strongly recommend pairing the Silvia Black with a capable grinder such as Rancilio’s own Rocky and Rocky Doserless Grinders. The Silvia M comes standard with a 7 gram coffee scoop, a tamper, and two filter baskets (single and double).
Cup Warmer
Preheating your cups is very important. The Silvia has a cup warmer that will hold up to six espresso cups. It is a passive type heater which means it is heated from the residual heat of the boiler.
Hot Water Dispenser
If you want hot water for any reason, be it hot chocolate, tea or Americanos it is very easy to do. Just turn on the pump (brew) switch and open the steam knob. Hot water will start to stream out.
New Articulating Steam Wand
The Silvia now comes standard with an articulating stainless steel steam wand, allowing a greater range of motion and making it much easier to use.
Water Reservoir
The large removable 2 quart reservoir can be refilled from the top any time during the operation, allowing for an endless supply of coffee or steam.
Thermostat and Safety Switches
The Silvia has three temperature controls. There are two thermostats and one high limit. There is one thermostat for maintaining brewing temperature and one for maintaining steaming temperature. The high limit will turn off the power to the boiler in the event of a malfunction. This prevents the boiler from overheating. The high limit switch can be reset and does not have to be replaced if activated.
Housing Construction
The construction of this unit is second to none. The frame that supports the unit is made of heavy iron. The exterior casing, drip pan and drip tray are made of high quality stainless steel. Not only is the Silvia rock solid and easy to clean, it also fits in perfectly with today’s high-end kitchen appliances.
Elegant Black Grouphead
The improved design of the grouphead adds a touch of elegance to the overall look of the Silvia M and any kitchen space that has the luxury of housing the Silvia M.
Improved Switch Icons
Improved switch icons make it easier than ever to read and identify the functions of each individual rocker switch for ease-of-use.

Ema Jurić –
Have owned Silvia for about 15 years. Purchased from HARFAN COFFEE and have been very satisfied with the purchase and service after the sale.
Silvia has been, most of the time, a good companion, a bit tickled at times, but manageable. Good results when she is, well, Silvia is in charge.
Stepped up to a Super Automatic and await its arRead more about review stating Trading up.rival this Friday. Am getting lazy and feel that a Jura S8 will do the job for us.
Will hand Silvia down to one of the other coffee lovers in the family.
My quandary now is: what to name the new machine. Will brew a last espresso with Silvia and think about it.
Branislav Perković –
Very well built. Great extraction, and warms up much quicker than reviews say as long as you run some water through the group head and portafilter.

Coming from a Breville Barista Express. Still learning how to use the Silvia but enjoying the journey. Any recommendations on how to temperature surf for making espressos? Also, if I were to put in a PID, would I void my warranty? Thanks.
