ECM Mechanika V Slim Espresso Machine with Flow Control

ECM Mechanika V Slim with Flow Control Overview

The ECM Mechanika V Slim with Flow Control combines a “less is more” design philosophy with the essential breakthrough of brew water flow rate control. The ECM Mechanika V Slim has slimmed down by more than 2 inches thanks to the vertical reorientation of the boiler, now measuring at under 10” wide.

Features and Performance

The vertical stainless steel boiler has an impressive capacity of 2.2L and features thermal insulation for greater energy efficiency. The redesigned interior also resulted in an update to the OPV which is now accessible from the top of the machine and located underneath the reservoir lid. On top of the E61 group, the flow control knob allows users to adjust flow rates during extraction to enable lengthy pre-infusions even with a vibration pump machine.

As a heat-exchanger machine, you’ll need to pay attention to temperature and perform a cooling flush every once in a while if the machine has been on for some time. However, the dual pressure gauges, custom ECM E61 group, and adjustable OPV make for a respectable prosumer espresso machine that can fit in the tightest of spaces.

I want to thank you for all the videos giving me so much information to process allowing me to choose the best machine for me. I love it the Mechanika V Slim and the flow control.
I’ve got to practice and experiment but that’s how you get better. I do like the German Italian combo! Cool

This machine is ridiculously cool!! If you want a little bit more room on the countertop and are a bit more of a minimalist this machine is for you. Spring for the extra flow control, even if you’re a newbie, it will give you some really fun options to grow into. Though it is a bit “slimmer” than other models, it still holds ample pressure and hasRead more about review stating This machine is ridiculously cool!! a giant reservoir. Finding a double boiler machine with a standard E-61 group head at this price was the deciding factor for me…if you’re a craft-coffee hobbyist or love to entertain, you’ll be happy!

Today, there are many great espresso machines on the market and a wide variety to choose from. It all comes down to personal preference and of course cost. A little background. My wife and I lived in southern Germany for 19 years. While in Europe we really got used to the espresso style coffee. Returning home after all those years I wanted a good Read more about review stating ECM Mechanika V Slim with Flow Controlquality machine. Alas, we were at a store that was having a sale on the ‘new’ Breville espresso machine – free samples of coffee and all. As any good husband would do, I yielded to the pleadings from my wife to purchase it (foot dragging all the way). It, surprisingly, made a decent coffee and was pretty convenient to use. We had it for about 4 yrs. before it died. Sent it in to Breville to be repaired. $250 later we got back a refurbished machine of a more recent version. Another 3 yrs. and it needed a new pump which I replace. Another 1.5 yrs and the solenoid pack had a problem. Took it all out, cleaned it and thought it was ok – but it developed a leak. Parts are often hard to find and this particular unit has gone through a revision (to reduce cost) – and I just didn’t want the hassle if I had to re-engineer it to make it work (old age makes you lazy). With a little experience under my belt, and our 50th wedding anniversary on the horizon, I researched several machines. Had a list of about 5 I was considering. I guess you could say I wore those 5 out in my mind going back and forth between them all for over a month. Dual boiler machines, if you can afford them, are really some of the best. But you can brew good espresso on a lot of machines. So practical considerations won out in the end. We don’t have a small kitchen but I didn’t want one of those monster machines on our somewhat limited counter space. I looked long and hard at the new Rancilio Silvia Pro X (as it’s dual boiler) and the Profitec Pro 500 (my original object of desire). My choice, I must say, is not entirely logical. I just really like the size and looks of the little Slim! The measurements were perfect for our kitchen. The fact that it was designed in Heidelberg didn’t hurt either. The Germans do somethings really well! Yes, it’s a compromise in that it’s a heat exchanger machine – but it is a real quality product. You won’t find a more well constructed, thought out machine of this type and price range. If there’s ever a problem, parts for it are industry standard. I can pass this on to my kids so they’ll have a least one thing to fight over when I’m gone 😅 There are a few exceptions, but we mostly only have a cappuccino in the morning and we don’t do a lot of entertaining now. So, we don’t need to do shot after shot. Doing a cooling flush before brewing when you’re only making two cups isn’t a big deal and steam pressure is wonderful! The flow control knob gives you extra flexibility/options when using different types of coffees. Adjusting to a machine of this quality takes some time. It’s been a little less than 2 months and I’m only now feeling like I’m getting to the place where I understand all the parameters of grinding and brewing good espresso. My shots are more like what I experienced back in Germany. So… don’t be discouraged and give yourself time if you get something like this or better. I don’t think you’ll regret it – especially if you really like coffee. And just to complete the circle… my wife really likes this machine, is glad we got it, has even watched some HARFAN COFFEE videos and is just as adept at pulling good shots and frothing milk as I am! Whole Latte Love has been great through it all and has gone the extra mile when we needed help. Can’t say enough good things regarding this company – especially in today’s world! Hope this helps a little in your decision making process.
