Eureka Mignon Specialita Espresso Grinder in Gourmet Green

Eureka Mignon Specialita Overview

The Eureka Mignon Specialità is an all purpose grinder with 55 mm flat hardened steel burrs that give it the highest output in Eureka’s Mignon range. The touch screen display is a stand out feature for a grinder so small, making adjustment as easy as it should be. With its larger burrs, the Mignon Specialità can produce up to 1.8g of coffee per second for espresso, meaning it can produce a barista quality 18g double shot in as little as 10 seconds.

Features and Performance

First of all—the touch screen. We’re thrilled with how intuitive it is. It’s vibrant, with a large font size and clean controls. Grind time is adjustable in tenths of a second using the “+” and “-” buttons, and you can freely switch between single and double shots. Also, you can switch to a manual mode for continuous grinding, or lock in your timed settings to keep other people from fiddling.

For performance, it’s equipped with 55 mm flat hardened steel burrs and a strong 1350 RPM motor with an output of 1.4 – 1.8g/s for espresso and 1.9 – 2.5g/s for brew. Eureka’s ACE system helps prevent clumping by eliminating static in ground coffee, which in turn ensures dose consistency.

It’s quiet, measuring in at about 73 dBA, so you won’t ever need to stop a conversation to make your drinks. It brings Eureka’s patented micrometric adjustment, so you expect smooth, stepless adjustments when dialing in the grind. Plus, the portafilter holder fork is adjustable to work with any portafilter on the market.

Why You Should Get It

The Mignon Specialta is a superb espresso grinder, with it’s quiet grinding and touchscreen controls. The micrometric grind adjustment knob is one of the easiest ways to make very fine changes to grind size that we’ve experienced, as well. Plus, with a height of under 14 inches, this coffee and espresso grinder will fit just about anywhere. If you’re looking for a compact, espresso-focused grinder, this is the one for you.

Iv’e had this grinder for 18 months. Overall pleased. I don’t waste as any beans now that I have a timed grind. I regularly clean the burrs, however after a year the motor would seem to seize/slow. Hmm. Removed the bottom burr (normally I just remove the top to get to the bottom to clean it). Under the bottom burr is just enough space for oil/beanRead more about review stating Great grinder! But make sure you clean it thoughorly. dust to cake up. This mixture was so densely packed in this space it was the obvious source of the problem. After cleaning this out it worked great, and now I take this extra cleaning step about once every 3 or 4 months. FYI – the nut holding the bottom burr assembly is left-hand-thread. Use a small piece of wood dowel (from the front, where the chute assembly is removed) or similar to stop the assembly from spinning while loosening the nut, same for tightening. A bit of fiddling around but necessary.

Ordering from HarfanCoffe was quick and painless. I moved from a Breville grinder to this and it is a world of difference! Super quiet and fast. The only complaint I have is, like alot of people have pointed out, the cheapo bean hopper. Come on Eureka! You can do better, me thinks!

I’ve had the grinder for 1 week, I like how it works overall, I like the simple touch controls for time and consistent output based on time, low retention, and that it’s quiet, this is my first prosumer grinder. I think the grind size knob control could be better, I would like to have finer control over the different grind size increments, it is sRead more about review stating Works great overalltep-less, but it’s not easy to move it in very small increments (maybe a different system like a worm gear adjustment works better, like the grind control on Ceado E37S), that’s why I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5.

At this price point I don’t think I can ask more from the grinder (besides a way to have finer control over grind size increments), but the next update for me would be a grinder where I can use 2 presets for grind size (for 2 coffee beans), either have very precise feedback on where I am on the grind size scale and I can change very precisely (manually) between the 2 presets or maybe digitally controlling and storing grind size. I would not mind grinding a bit of coffee to purge between changing presets.

First venture into a prosumer grinder and very happy. I am using this as a single dose set up and it is very good. Great grinder for the price point it. It is whisper quiet and fast. Bottomless basket filled in 8.5 seconds. I continue to work on keeping the bottomless portafilter in place to avoid grounds on the counter since there is no spout to Read more about review stating First venture into a prosumerengage the forks.

Quietest grinder I’ve heard, and what noise it does make is very benign. Fluffy grinds, and after adding a relatively inexpensive bellows kit it’s a remarkable low-retention grinder (without the wait, cost, or supply headaches associated with the Niche, D64, or Eureka Oro). Excellent service from HarfanCoffe on my order, too…
