Mazzer Mini Espresso Grinder

Owning the Mazzer Mini Espresso Grinder

The Mazzer Mini is compactly designed with small spaces in mind. Limited counter space should never decide the quality of your grind, and, by extension, your espresso. It’s surprisingly quiet, high-performance motor won’t get bogged down from high use in a cafe setting, but the short hopper is specially crafted for home. We find the Mazzer impressive and simple to use with its single electronic control being a timer dial that can be twisted to grind up to sixty seconds worth of espresso. The grounds are deposited into the doser, which can be adjusted to dispense anywhere from 5.5 to 9 grams into the portafilter with a pull of the dosing lever. Those grounds can then be easily tamped with the doser’s built-in tamper. Both the doser and its built-in tamper are designed with high speed scenarios in mind, where you want to be able to quickly grind and tamp for several drinks in a row. We love it around the office for this fact alone, and think it would be excellent in an entertainer’s home.

The Mazzer Mini’s 58mm stainless steel burrs are stepless, meaning they can essentially be adjusted infinitely by turning the collar in small amounts. Now, the Mini is capable of producing coarse or fine grinds, though, in the case of stepless grinders, we recommend commiting to espresso or other fine grinds in order to avoid serious dialing in before every use. The burrs are easy to access for cleaning, and calibrating them afterward is simple, too. If you like the Mazzer Mini, but need a polished finish to match your espresso machine, the Mini P is a good bet; or, if you want to drop the doser and gain some programmability, take a look at the Type A or B.

Un-believable! I received my Mazzer Mini as a Christmas present (early…couldn’t wait any longer)…and all I can say is…WOW….what a machine. I had used a Solis Maestro for 3 years and it did an adequate job, however…I will be updating my expresso machine soon, and needed a better grinder to keep up! The Mazzer is a work of art…heavy, beaRead more about review stating What a machine!utiful, functional…as soon as I flipped the “on” switch the first time, I was amazed….this machine is very quiet, even when grinding beans…and fast, as well….much faster than the Maestro.
Comparing the two would be the same as comparing a Ferrari to a Kia…they both get the job done, but what a difference quality makes! I have only run 6 scoops of beans thru the hopper, but I have already gotten $400 worth of joy from it’s use. No question, this is an awesome machine, as many of the other posts declare.
Yeah, the instructions are a little vague, but the bottom line is really, plug in the machine, put th beans in the hopper and turn of the grinding switch…oh, yeah, don’t use this appliance while taking a bath…If you have used other grinders, the Mazzer is much easier than rocket science. Buy it, and quit second-guessing yourself.

What do you like best about this product?
    Everything…looks, feel, function….all superior

Do you have any helpful tips for using this product?
The mini was shipped to me with a short hopper in place….I didn’t realize that the short hopper now comes with the unit, so I ordered an additional one that I don’t need

With a high quality espresso machine, one must have a high quality grinder. I believe that the grind may be as important as the machine. If you are on this site, you are likely considering a good quality espresso machine (or already have one; I use an Expobar Office Lever). Save your money, time, and coffee and just get the Mazzer. This is a very Read more about review stating just get ithigh quality machine that produces a consistent grind. It is very quiet and is easy to clean. The coffee is excellent.

What do you like best about this product?
    Very well built. Consistent grind.

Do you have any helpful tips for using this product?
Clean periodically by removing the hopper and upper burr. A paint brush works very well. I have cleaned it about once per month.

Good Grinder, but appears to be over kill for home use. I had to call the staff at HarfanCoffee to figure out what some of the parts were. The instructions weren’t much help. Now that I have it, I’ll keep it, and will get many years use from it. The grind comes set from the factory to produce talcum powder fine coffee. This produces bitter espresso. After Read more about review stating Good Grinderreading the golden rule and doing some more research I found that coffee slightly finer than sugar is the best grind for dark roast coffee. This is a very easy fix with the adjustment wheel on the machine. If you ever wear this machine out I’d be amazed.

What do you like best about this product?
quiet, fast, and easy to adjust
